Jean Oswald, loving wife, mother and Nana, passed away on Saturday May 21, 2022. She was 87 years old. Jean, and her surviving husband Jack, lived at Oakmont Senior Living of El Dorado Hills for over 2 years. Jean’s passing was attributed to a lengthy illness and Covid - 19.
Jean Catherine Williamson was born August 3, 1934. She was the daughter of Jack and Ethel Williamson of Peoria, IL. Jean lived and went to school in Peoria until she attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Jean was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and received her BS in Speech. She was active in the university radio station, WNUR, where she met her husband Jack Oswald.
After college graduation and marriage, Jean became a military wife when Jack was commissioned through ROTC into the US Air Force. A lifetime of travel began. The Oswalds lived in Scotland for 4 years and then lived in multiple cities across the United States. During all of these moves, Jean was busy becoming an expert seamstress and weaver, raising her family and owning her own company. For 20 years, Jean owned, operated and managed COMPUTERWORKS of Pasadena, CA specializing in accounting software for non-profit corporations.
When both Jack and Jean retired they continued their adventure of traveling. Over a 20 year period, they traveled all over the world. Jean’s last trip was to Spain in February 2020, right before the Covid – 19 shutdown.
Jean is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack Oswald; son, Jeff Oswald of Irvine, CA; daughter, Sheryl Allen (Michael) of El Dorado Hills, CA; daughter, Catherine Oswald-Buff (Michael) of Oakland, CA; granddaughter, Bethany Hicks (Zach) of Atascadero, CA; grandson, Matthew Allen of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Jacob Allen of Oakland, CA; great grandson, Finley Hicks (and another great grandson on the way!) and many loving friends.
