

She was born in Tacoma, Washington as Joan Marjorie Wangelin and grew up in that area. She worked as an Anesthesiology Assistant. In 1962 she married Harold A. Hughes and they moved to Camino, CA after he completed his Army Duty in Washington at Fort Lewis. The Hughes spent their lives in the Camino area where they raised three children, Kenneth, Steven, and Sharon.
Joan was active in the Placerville area, volunteering at Marshal Hospital as a Pink Lady and blood donor. She was also involved at Camino Union School in the P.T.A. and was a member of the Camino Christian Women’s Club.
Joan is survived by her adoring husband of 51 years, Harold A. Hughes, sons, Kenneth (Jennifer), and Steven (Shelli) Hughes, daughter, Sharon (Dean) Bedard and grandchildren; Heather, Megan, Travis, Alex, Melissa, Stephanie, Shane and Devon.

A Celebration of Life is being held at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Rd., Placerville, CA, on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 11:30 a.m.
