Nicolas Kyle Prather

October 6, 1986 – November 21, 2014

Nicolas Prather passed away surrounded by family at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville, CA on November 21, 2014. He was born to his loving parents, Daniel and Janice Prather, on October 6, 1986 in Santa Clara, CA.

Nick spent his early years in Fremont, CA before he moved with his family to Placerville, CA in 2000. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 2005, and went on to obtain his Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts through the Institute of Technology in Roseville, CA in 2009. Nick worked as a chef in several local restaurants, and even one of the top restaurants in Napa Valley. Cooking was his passion, and he will always be remembered as the great “Kitchen Stander.”

He is survived by his grandfather, Edward Prather; his mother, Janice, a music teacher who taught him to see the beauty in life; his father, Daniel, a small business owner who taught him about hard work and dedication; his sister, Tamara, the mother of two beautiful girls who adored their uncle; and his brother, Jeremy, his best friend.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Chef Nick Scholarship Fund at El Dorado Savings Bank, located at 4040 El Dorado Road Placerville, CA 95667, account number 013250188.

A viewing will be held for Nicolas on Wednesday November 26, 2014 from 4:00-6:00pm at Chapel of the Pines, located in Placerville at 2855 Cold Springs Road. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday November 28, 2014 at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, located in Placerville at 2720 Cold Springs Road.
