Sharon Marie McIntire entered into rest on July 21, 2011 at the age of 45. Sharon was born June 30, 1966 in Placerville, CA and lived here for 21 years. Sharon is survived by her son, Tyler Levi McIntire (San Diego); parents, Jim & Doris McIntire, step-mother, Betty Young McIntire; sisters Cathy McIntire Patterson (Larry), Debra McIntire; brother David McIntire (Carla) and step-brother Beau Young, Elko, NY. Nieces Jessica Johnston (Gary), Caitlyn Rodgers, Grace McIntire, Kyra McIntire, Alameda; nephews James McIntire, Casey Dobbs, Merced; great-niece Briza Rios; great-nephews Kaden Rios, Kai Dobbs (England).
Sharon graduated from EI Dorado High School in 1984 where she excelled in athletics playing volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Cougars. Upon graduating, Sharon enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where she was an Honor Graduate out of boot camp. One of Sharon's earliest assignments was her selection to the Marine Corp National Softball Team traveling throughout the United States and other countries. Returning from oversees duty Sharon became an air traffic controller at EI Toro Marine Base. Memorable highlights as an air traffic controller at EI Toro included guiding the landing of Presidential Air Force One on two separate occasions.
Once retiring from the military, having served seven years, Sharon joined the San Diego Law Enforcement Agency as a Sheriffs Deputy for San Diego County. Sharon served 12 years with the San Diego Sheriffs Department until her retirement due to her illness.
Sharon's love for life and her family was most important to her. Her radiant smile and sparkling eyes were filled with humor and a little mischief, too. During her long battle with cancer, Sharon remained positive and fought her disease. Her favorite phrases were "Let's Kick this Pig"! ; "Glad you got to see me" and "Glad I made your day".
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at Green Valley Community Church, 3500 Missouri Flat Rd., Placerville, CA, on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 1:00pm.
