

Alice was born Alice Gene Brotherton in Dalhart, Texas to Lawrence and Esther Root Brotherton on September 26, 1936.
She graduated from West Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in August of 1958, taught school in Pampa, Texas, and then and went to University of Texas to work on her Master’s degree.
She married Robert Naas on July 7, 1962 in Austin, Texas, and worked as a teacher in Austin until her children came.
Throughout the years, she was active in her community and taught her children the importance of volunteering through her involvement in organizations like Girls Scouts of America and AAUW. In addition to serving as an elder and member of the Session of First Presbyterian Church in Plano, she also sang in the Chancel Choir, rang in the Handbell Choir and served as a substitute organist.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Esther Root Brotherton and sister Jan Brotherton Stone.
Alice is survived by her husband, Robert Naas; her children, Muriel Naas Mason (Craig Mason) and Martha Naas Smith; siblings Janie Brotherton, Larry Brotherton (Mary Ann Brotherton), Richie Brotherton (Linda Sue Brotherton) and brother-in-law Tom Stone; and grandsons Alan Mason, Larry Mason, William Smith, Nathan Smith, and David Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Battlefield Trust (www.battlefields.org), Boys Ranch (www.calfarley.org), or First Presbyterian Church (www.fpc-plano.org )
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, located at 2128 18th Street, Plano, Texas 75074.
The funeral service for Alice will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Plano, located at 1500 Jupiter Road, Plano, Texas 75074.
Angie Mabry will officiate.
