Alma Ruth Burchfield went home to Heaven on June 3rd, 2016. She was 89 years old, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a long-time member at First Baptist Church Plano and a devoted member of her Sunday School class. She loved to travel and garden, and was a favorite among her many nieces and nephews.
Alma Ruth was born on November 1st, 1926, near Whitewright, Texas, to Joe Reeves and Mabel Fleeman Reeves, one of eleven children. A lifelong resident of Texas, she graduated from Whitewright High School. She was married to Tommie Burchfield on June 19, 1944, and they were married for nearly 61 years.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Burchfield, her daughter, Karen MacAleer, and her son, Larry Burchfield. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Ellen Burchfield, grandchildren Jenny and Aaron Elam, Missy and Nathan Boynton, Kathy and AJ Lewton, and Beth Burchfield, and 10 great-grandchildren.
