

Billy John Raiden was born on December 5, 1925 in Honey Grove, TX. Billy grew up in Honey Grove and graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1943. After high school graduation, Bill received his electrician's certification. This was during WW II, and he sent the rest of the war in Houston, wiring ships for the military. Billy spent a few more years in Honey Grove before he moved to Plano in 1947. He served in the Army from 1954 -1955. In 1954 he married his wife of 62 years, Jacquelynn Harper Raiden. Their daughter Rhonda was born in 1960 and kept them busy in Plano. Bill was a very hard working man. He worked for Dudley and Ammie Wilson from 1947 – 1972 on their farm, now known as the Heritage Farmstead. He won many ribbons and awards for the flock of sheep that he showed at livestock shows. After leaving the farm, he became a Mastery Nurseryman, which he worked as for many years. Upon retiring he began to refinish furniture that his wife had in her antique shop. People would bring their furniture to him to have refinished and he loved working on it and the praise he received for his labors. Billy is a past president of the Jaycees and loved keeping up with his Plano Wildcats football. He and his wife are season ticket holders. They followed the team all over Texas, wherever the went. Billy was also known for his amazing Peanut Butter Fudge. Billy attended the Custer Road United Methodist Church and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Jacquelynn “Jackie” Raiden, his daughter Rhonda Raiden Hunter, Son-in-law Roy Hunter and Granddaughter Marisa Lea Hunter. Services will be held at the Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family does ask that donations be made to the Children’s Music Ministry at CRUMC, 6601 Custer Rd. Plano, TX 75023
