Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death, as she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was a caring mother, daughter, sister, colleague, and friend.
Born to James and Yvonne Hardeman, she was introduced to the world on Monday, May 3rd, 1971. She attended Business Magnet High School and graduated with the Class of 1989. Carmen had her daughter, her only child, at the age of 24 and raised her as a single parent. Carmen embraced the challenges and financial adversities of raising a child by herself, and she felt proud that her daughter became a productive adult with goals and dreams that surpassed Carmen’s own imagination.
Carmen did not let being a single mom hinder her growth in life. While raising her daughter, Carmen put herself through college online at American InterContinental University, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration in 2011 and her Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) in 2012.
She was a private and quiet person, but also remarkably witty and fun! She was independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She was an avid reader, foodie, and dog mom. She could start and finish a book in two days and loved Mexican food and BBQ. She valued cooking, books, indoor gardening, and puzzles. She would always have recipes all over the house and was excited to introduce her family to new types of food. Carmen was clever, strong-willed, and occasionally stubborn, but she also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. These traits defined Carmen. They were part of who she was, and her strength undoubtedly helped her deal with life’s challenges.
Carmen's greatest joys in life were spending time with her daughter, Jadzia, and her dog, Ace. She would visit her daughter wherever she moved in the world, cherishing every moment spent together and watching her flourish in life. When traveling around the U.S, Carmen would always make sure to stop at a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives restaurant, try local foods and learn about the different cities and cultures around her.
Carmen is preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne Hardeman and beloved dog, Ace “Batman/Acipoo” Hardeman.
She is survived by her daughter, Jadzia Hardeman.
She is also survived by her father, sisters and their spouses, nieces, and nephews: her father James Hardeman; sisters Toni Hardeman, Cathye Hardeman, Gayla Johnson; nieces Janaye Hardeman, Ashley Hardeman, Alaysia Hardeman; nephews Trent Hardeman, Taylon Johnson, Tannon Johnson; great niece Briella Thomas; and great nephews Alex Hardeman, Ezra Hardeman and Dalton Thomas Jr.
Additionally, she is loved and remembered by her colleagues at DB&A - DeWolff, Boberg & Associates, Inc.
A Celebration of Carmen's Life will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 12 noon at Ted Dickey Funeral Home at 2128 18th St, Plano, Texas 75074. A Reception will follow the service.
