ROGERS, CHARLES WAYLON: 81, of Plano Texas, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, from complications as his body was working hard to recover from a complicated surgery at the beginning of January. A native of Texas born November 15, 1936, the son of Curtis Raymond & Ruby Wilson Rogers , he attended public school in Texas and played basketball and other sports for his High School in Gatesville, graduating in 1954. After graduating, he attended Tarleton State College for two years, and then transferred into Texas A&M University where he received two degrees simultaneously in Petroleum Engineering and Business in 1961. After leaving his beloved College Station, Charles went on to work for Sun Oil Company in New Mexico, California, Houston and finally Dallas, setting up home more permanently in Plano, Texas. He was a huge supporter of Texas A&M and established a scholarship benefiting any member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets studying Petroleum engineering. He has now rejoined his loving wife Barbara, who he lost 17 years ago, and his son Waylon, who recently passed away. Charles is survived by his daughter, Shawnna Rogers, his son, Bill Davis, his sister, Joyce Sissom, as well as his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and lots of great friends. To all of the doctors, nurses and techs at the Davita Dialysis Centers, thank you so much for the love and care you showed to him and his daughter over the last three years. There will be a private Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
