With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Charline Mildred Chronister, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on July 12, 2022. She was 94 years old and resided in Plano, Texas.
Charline was born in Lawrence, Kansas on July 29, 1927 to her mother Minnie and her father Pete Edelbrock. She lived in Eudora, Kansas until she married the love of her life, Robert Chronister, in 1948. After moving around the country for her husband’s work, they were finally able to settle in Plano, Texas in the early 60s and never left. She found part time work for the City of Plano while raising their two daughters, Roberta and Rose Marie.
In the early 70s, Charline started making wedding cakes with a friend and by the late 80s she was doing it all by herself and started a wedding catering company, Charline Inc. For the next 20 years, she worked her business out of her home and every Thursday would make her cakes for the upcoming weddings that weekend. She even catered the weddings of her daughters and granddaughters.
After retiring from the cake making business, her love of quilt making took over. Several of her quilts won prizes at local quilt shows. She even taught her oldest granddaughter how to quilt! She started Quilts for Kids at her church, First United Methodist Church of Plano, where she was a member for over 60 years.
Charline lived a full life as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and dedicated church member. She enjoyed playing the handbells in the church handbell choir and was an active member of the Wesleyan Circle, the First Ladies Sunday School Class, and the Chancel Choir. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Charline is survived by her daughter, Roberta Dancer and her husband Don and was predeceased by her devoted husband Robert and daughter Rose Marie. Charline also leaves behind her granddaughters Misty Groetken, and her husband Nick, and Kristi Weston, and her husband Shelby as well as great grandchildren: Kayla and Grant Groetken, and Kennedy, Cash, and Crue Weston. Charline is also survived by her brother in law, Dr. Bert Chronister, and his wife Rochelle, of Neodesha, Kansas along with her niece Pam Lewis and nephew Philip Chronister.
