David Alan Kobus, age 52, passed away on December 31, 2011 in Plano, TX. He was born May 6, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan to Louis and Irene Kobus. He is survived by his brother Mitchell (Rita) Kobus of Plano, Texas; uncle, Joseph (Linda) Kobus of New Port Richey, Florida; aunt, Linda (Tony) Wieber of Geneva, Illinois; cousins, Michelle Kobus of Lansing, Michigan, Theresa (Bob) Pollack of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Joseph M. (Dawn) Kobus II of Stockbridge, Michigan, and Natalie (Gale) Gross of Elburn, Illinois. David was preceded in death by his brother Kevin, sister-in-law Janet (Mitchell) Kobus, father Louis, and his beloved mother Irene. David graduated from J.W. Sexton high school in 1977 and from the Ohio Institute of Technology (DeVry) with a degree in electronic repair in 1979. David worked as a U.S. Postal Service carrier for the past seven years. He was quiet and smart, with a distinct knack for technical work, and he had a dry, dry sense of humor
Although happiness eluded him in certain aspects of his life, he gave happiness to his parents and his two brothers, who loved him very dearly. And he had friends and co-workers who cared for him as well. Unfortunately we did not know the depth and extent of his sorrow and how deeply troubled he was in this life. That he took the path to the solace, and silence, of death leaves us pale and loitering. That he may find the peace, happiness, and security that he so craved in this world, but could not see, be granted unto him by God in His infinite presence.
A memorial mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas. A memorial service will be held for David and his mother and father in St. Casimir Catholic Church in Lansing, Michigan, with burial of their respective ashes in St. Joseph Cemetery, in the summer of 2012.
