Her parents were Amos Uriah Forbes and Eva Louise Sullivan.
Doreen entered into eternity on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 8:15 AM, at the young age of 94.
She was married to our beloved father Efrain Barrera who preceded her into eternity in 1995. While we miss them both immensely, they are now together.
Papa Efrain and Mama Doreen raised one daughter, Lesbia, and seven sons: Efrain, Guillermo, Raul, Euclides, Antonio (passed into eternity February 15, 2021), Fulgencio and Erasmo.
Our parents leave behind a total of nineteen (19) grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mama Doreen was a homemaker who worked creatively and contributed immensely to meet the needs of our family and upbringing along with our father. They both left us a legacy of giving to community and to anyone in need.
Despite her many years of sufferings, she never lost her faith in God and her sense of humor. She gave so much of herself.
She took each child upon arriving at ages nine or ten into the kitchen and taught us how to cook and to bake.
She prepared us with knowledge, wisdom and understanding in order for us to face the challenges of life. We remember her telling us: "save a dollar for a rainy day; don't hang your hat where you can't reach it; always wash your hands upon entry to home; and always wash your hands before eating." We learned to love because of the example of love my mother gave us.
We are eternally thankful to the Lord for all the blessings bestowed upon us through our beloved mother Doreen.
