

Dovie Anlene Rook was born to James Grady and Lula McCarty Rook in Yell Co., Arkansas as the fifth of eight children. She grew up on a farm, near Powderly and the Red River, helping her mother care for the large family. Growing up during the Great Depression taught her many valuable life skills.
Dovie graduated from Powderly High School on May 17, 1946. She left the farm and family in 1951 to seek employment at the Mercantile National Bank at Dallas where she worked in Accounts. She met her future husband, Benjamin Neal Mouser, at the boarding house where she and his sister Elsie also resided. Neal and Dovie were married on February 20, 1953.
Dovie was a housewife and mother caring for her children until 1973, when her children were of sufficient age for her to join the local workforce. She was a cartographer at Geomap Company, creating and updating maps of various oil fields in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
Dovie was a member of First Baptist Church Plano for over 50 years where she enjoyed teaching Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also loved gardening, quilting and crocheting.
Dovie is survived by her children: Linda Forbes, Gainesville, GA.; Clifford Mouser, and wife Susan, Tyler, TX; Wesley Mouser, and wife Shonda, Quinlan, TX; Patricia Griffith, and husband Keith, Dallas, TX and grandchildren Jennifer Forbes, Jeremy Forbes, Katherine Mouser, Ian Griffith, Sara Griffith; great grandchildren Tristan Forbes, Gabriel Forbes, Isaiah Forbes, William Cantrell and Hazel Cantrell; and sister Donnie Forman, Mimbres, NM; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and loving husband of 49 years, she is preceded in death by her siblings Doy Rook, Darrell “Chick” Rook, Dorothy McCain, James “Red” Rook, Delaney Rook and W.D. “Dee” Rook.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for 12 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Plano.
