

Joe was born on October 13, 1959, in Houston, TX to Claude G. and Eva C. Suarez. He was the youngest of the bunch, so as you can imagine he was very loved. He grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. Upon graduating he started on his path to gaining his first career opportunity with the City of Houston. It wasn’t long after where he was married to his first wife Irene Martinez Segundo and later relocated to Plano, Tx. They were married for almost 12 years and had three children: Monica Cheri Suarez, Cecelia Nicole Suarez, and Yvonne Elizabeth Suarez. While residing in Plano with his family he found himself employed with the City of Plano.
Joe had made his return to Houston, TX in the early 90’s, where he found his way working for Daniel Steel for many years until they closed their doors. In 2006, Joe remarried Doris “Boots” Smith Leighman where they shared many joyous days until her untimely passing. Upon retirement Joe spent most of his time just enjoying life. He would spend his days listening to his favorite bands, while sharing cherished moments with his brothers and neighborhood friends. He loved it when it was time to enjoy the sound of the Houston Astros playing while relaxing on the front porch and enjoying the fresh air and a cold one.
Preceded in death by father: Claude G. Suarez, Jr., mother: Eva C. Suarez, sisters: Nora S. Cerda, Delia C. Salinas, Delia C. Durham, Brothers: Arthur J. "Artie" Suarez, Anthony J."Tony" Suarez and Claude Suarez III, Wife: Doris “Boots” Smith Leighman. Joe is survived by his daughters: Monica (LaMichael) Moore of Dallas, TX; Cecelia Nicole (Paul) Briones of Plano, TX.; Yvonne (Ezequiel) Martinez of Arlington, TX. Grandchildren: Kaesha Williams, Janae Suarez, Yeshua Moore, Micah Moore, Narayah Nicole Belman (Armando), Ruben Alexander Belman, Anthony Ryan Belman, Aaron Christopher Belman, Nyellie Yasmine Belman, Naomie Renae Belman, Sofia Martinez, and Xavier Martinez, Great grandkids: Enaya Izabel Torres, Armando Alias Torres, and London Willis; Sisters: Sylvia (Arnulfo) Ramirez of Houston, TX. Janie Robles of Austin, TX., Adella (Robert) Santos of Washington D.C. In addition to many family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as extended family and many dear friends.
Joe will be laid to rest in Houston, TX at the Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery. This final detail pertaining to his Celebration of life and burial service will be announced within the days to come.
