John Burt Eaheart, 82, of Plano, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his home in Plano from complications of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Private graveside services and interment are set for Friday, May 11, at Plano Mutual Cemetery. A reception for friends and family will follow at 11 a.m. at 1516 Municipal Avenue, Plano.
He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Stamford, Texas, to John Wade Eaheart and Mildred Jordan Eaheart. He spent much of his youth in Greenville, Texas. A 1948 graduate of Highland Park High School, he attended Arlington State College (UT-Arlington). He was a former member of the United States Navy.
On March 27, 1953, he and Kathleen Poynor were married in Dallas. In July 1956, the family moved from Red Oak to Plano, then a tiny dot on the map with a population of just over 2,500, and chose a house in what is now the historic Old Towne neighborhood. This residence remains the family’s homestead.
He joined Texas Instruments in 1953. He worked in various TI facilities in the Dallas area and retired from that corporation after 39 years. He was then employed by Medical Air Supply in Richardson for three years.
A master technician and an astute mathematician, he was also a cat fancier and a charter member of what is now the Collin County Genealogical Society. His great ingenuity enabled him to repair anything.
He is survived by Kathleen Poynor Eaheart, his wife of 59 years; daughters Anna (David) Williams of Leesville, S.C., Marla (Peter) Millsap of Glendale, Ariz., and Sondra (Mel) Foust of Plano; son, John Brian (Sharon) Eaheart of Plano; five granddaughters, Kelli, Jamie, Casie and Kerrie Eaheart and Jennifer (Dylan) Brown; four grandsons, Brian (Megan) Foust, Matthew (Laura) Williams, Justin Foust and Stephen Williams; one great-granddaughter, Callahan Williams; three nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Edna Eaheart Hambright.
Pallbearers will be Collin Carlisle, Brian Foust, Justin Foust, Matthew Parker, Matthew Williams and Stephen Williams.
The family respectfully requests no flowers.
