

John Thomas Maguire, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Plano on November 1st 2010. Born on May 28th, 1946 in Lowell, Massachusetts, John is survived by his 2 daughters, Colleen Maguire of Westford, Massachusetts and Kelley Maguire of Allen, Texas. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Millicent (Maguire) Doherty of Charlestown, Massachusetts and her 7 children, Kathleen (Maguire)Houghton of Edmonds, Washington, her husband Jon and their 2 children. In addition he will be missed by his close and loving friend Nancy Maguire. John was a loving son of the late Joseph T. Maguire and Alice Tumelty Maguire. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother Joseph Maguire and his brother in law Hugh Doherty.
John was a longtime resident of Lowell, Massachusetts where he was a General Contractor before moving to Texas in 1992. John lived in Plano from 1992 until his death. John served proudly in the US Navy during the Viet Nam Era serving on the USS Nitro before he became medically disabled and retired. John was an active member of the American Legion Harding Blaine post 321 since 1992 and served as past Judge Advocate and Commander. John enjoyed boating, fishing, reading and deeply loved his family and friends. He was a generous person who loved life and giving to others.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday November 8th at the Ted Dickey Funeral Home, Plano Texas followed by a graveside service at the DFW National Cemetery at 1:15pm.
