Born on April 19, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Kansas, to John L and Katherine Comiskey Simion, he attended De La Salle Catholic High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and later graduated from Kansas University with a degree in Chemistry. John’s service in the US Army as a lieutenant for two years was followed by a distinguished career in the chemical industry, where he excelled in sales and management.
An avid golfer and a long-time member of Gleneagles Country Club, John’s passion for sports extended beyond golf. He followed all sports closely and eagerly anticipated each football season. His appreciation for fine dining and his desire to explore new restaurants were also cherished aspects of his life. A prodigious reader, John delighted in challenging his intellect with both factual and fictional works. He relished engaging in lively debates and found joy in the pursuit of knowledge.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Kane Simion, their children Stephen Simion, Jean Simion Nictakis, and Michael Simion, and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held in the narthex of Prince of Peace Catholic Community located at 5100 W.
