Kenneth Jones Christian was born in Parker, Texas on February 3, 1933 to Lonnie and Lizzie (Southwood) Christian. He passed away on August 6, 2015 at the Clyde W. Cosper Veterans Home, Bonham, Texas, after a long illness.
Kenneth attended Plano schools and graduated 1950. Kenneth joined the Army and served his country in Korea from 1953 – 1955 as a special services, radar & fire control technician. After returning to the states, he graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Education in 1959. He realized very quickly teaching was not for him. Kenneth changed his career direction, and obtained certification from SMU in Transportation and Traffic Management in 1964.
Kenneth loved all sports but especially high school sports. He refereed baseball, basketball and football for several years throughout North Texas. He was a diehard Wildcat and faithfully followed his high school alma mater, Plano High School.
Times spent with family were simple but the best, sitting out on the patio visiting, holiday parties, talking sports, cooking steaks and listening to old country and western songs.
He loved spending time with a close group of long time high school friends, traveling abroad, taking trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, and attending the Fort Worth Rodeo, Texas Rangers Opening Day and hunting trips to the Mountain Top Ranch.
Kenneth was the unofficial historian for Plano. If you had a question about who was related to or who married who, and what street someone lived on, you called Kenneth.
Kenneth will be buried in the heart of Plano, which is where his heart has always been.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ema Jean Gregory Christian; son Brett Christian; stepchildren; Jeannie Musick, Jim Wolfe, and Jadee Neal and 8 grandchildren; Conner, Cole and Zane Christian; Dustin and Devin Musick; Bailey Kerss; and Chris and Tommy Neal, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Christian, mother, Lizzie Southwood Christian, brother, Curtis Christian and sister, Paula Christian Brewton.
His smile and laughter will be missed. . . . .
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations to be made to Corinth Presbyterian Church, Parker Texas where he became member in 2014 or to your favorite charity.
