Marilyn Daniels

A visitation was held on Tuesday December 29th, 2020, at the Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, TX. A family graveside service followed with burial at Restland Cemetery, also in Richardson.

Mrs. Daniels was born October 16, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Ralph and Clara Elings. Marilyn spent her childhood in Des Moines, graduating from East High School in 1955. She was employed at the Iowa Employment Security Commission as a young adult. It was there where she met John Daniels. Marilyn and John were married in September 1961.

As a young adult Marilyn placed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior.

Her children testify that Marilyn was a dedicated, selfless mother. Every meal she prepared and every thoughtful gift she hand-crafted was a labor of love intended to make others happy. She was most happy when she, through the gifts and talents God gave her, made others happy. No sacrifice of time, of money, or even of personal wants was too big for her when it came to serving her family and others. She truly exemplified the biblical principle of thinking of others first. The children are thankful to God for the mother He gave to them.

Marilyn was a faithful worker in the fellowship of Garland Bible Chapel from its founding in 1976 until the time she was disabled by dementia and had to enter the care of a nursing facility in 2015. Marilyn was an accomplished cook and loved to prepare dishes for the activities at Garland Bible Chapel. She also volunteered with her husband working with Write Way Prison Ministries, and later with Set Free Correspondence Ministry.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Lynn Harberson. She is survived by her Husband, John, of Plano TX.; Daughter Cindy DeBoard of Plano, TX; son Kevin Daniels of Mahtomedi, MN; and daughter Rhoda Ostertag of Wylie, TX; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
