Mike worked on a puzzle, placed his cup of unsweet tea from Panera on the coffee table, tuned in to either sports or a game show on TV then moved on quietly from this world to the next.
Mike was born on June 23, 1966, to Charles Edwin Brower and Norma Bridget Brower (Russo) in Ripon, Wisconsin. Mike attended JJ Pearce High School in Richardson and later attended Hardin Simmons University, transferring to, and earning his bachelor’s degree from University of North Texas. Mike by trade was a Certified Public Accountant and at the time of his death was employed at Lawrence J. Beardsley CPA, LLC holding the position of Audit and Advisory Director.
Mike and his wife Patti (Waugaman) were married on New Years Eve of 2016. Together, they created a blended family of Mike’s three sons and Patti’s three daughters- affectionately known as the “Brower Bunch.”
Mike enjoyed taking care of his home, especially the yard. He also loved puzzles, sudoku, trivia, cards, and word games. He enjoyed gambling – especially blackjack and making bets with his sons on various sporting events. Mike was a long-time season ticket holder for the Dallas Mavericks and a fan of all Dallas sports teams. Baseball and softball were favorites. Mike was a devoted sports dad and could be counted on to be at his kids’ games, no matter the sport.
It was almost impossible to give Mike a new piece of news, as he was always one step ahead with current and world events. He was the family weatherman, always giving updates on the weather!
Mike also enjoyed boating and was the proud owner of “The Hard Eight” a 23-foot pontoon. Weekend afternoons at Lake Bob Sandlin were a favorite place for him to be. Mike’s vacation of choice was on a Carnival Cruise, his most recent cruise in May.
Mike had a generous heart. He donated blood regularly at Carter BloodCare as he knew his blood type was needed for NICU babies. He also was one to show appreciation in places that we all forget- he would take Gatorade each Monday morning to the garbage men and to the UPS delivery man. Mike was quick to pick up a dinner tab and loved being a host. Mike was a long-time volunteer for the Byron Nelson golf tournament and was proud to have volunteered for over 20 years.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patti; sons, Parker Brower, Collin Brower and Grayson Brower; bonus daughters, Meghann Housley and husband Tyler, Molly Stephenson, and Macey Stephenson; brothers, Skip Brower and wife Darlene, Tom Brower and wife Cheryl; sisters, Holly Benfield and husband Dave, Roxanne White and husband Sherman, and Donna Brower; grandchildren Trey and Will Housley; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents C. Edwin and Norma Brower and oldest brother, Steve Brower.
A visitation for Michael will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Respectfully, this would conclude all public services.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any one of the following, as each of these charities were important to Mike: St Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.TedDickeyFuneral.com for the Brower family.
