

Patsy Ruth Hamilton Mayfield, age 83, long time resident of Plano, died peacefully at her residence on Friday, November 16, 2012 after a long extended illness. Patsy was born March 31, 1929 in Celina, Texas, the daughter of George W. and Anna Ruth Hamilton. She graduated with honors as Salutatorian of the Plano High School Class of 1946. She received multiple scholarships and then completed Draughon’s Business College in Dallas.
On April 5, 1947, Patsy married Lee Everett Mayfield. Pasty and Lee enjoyed a wonderful married life together for 38 years before he passed away in 1986. For 19 years, Lee was the Fire Chief in Plano and his leadership was major contribution to the quality of life we enjoy in our community. Patsy’s constant support and her willingness to share her husband with the fire department and the community made all this possible.
Patsy is preceded in death by husband Lee, by her mother and father and by 2 brothers; Carl Lee Hamilton and Eugene Hamilton. She is survived by her 4 sons; Danny and wife Lana McCollum Mayfield, Terry and wife Terry G. Province Mayfield, Chuck and wife Sharolyn Moore Mayfield and Rusty and wife Elisha Mayfield. Also surviving is a sister, Shirley Templin, and sisters-in-law Dortha Dougal and Elaine Hamilton. And most importantly, “Granny Patsy” is survived by 13 grandchildren and spouses and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family invites neighbors and friends to a visitation Monday evening from 6-9pm in the small chapel at the First Baptist Church in Plano. Funeral services will be the following day, Tuesday November 20th at 1:30pm in the main sanctuary at First Baptist Plano. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to Mustard Seed Residential Care Home at P. O. BOX 860566 PLANO, TX 75086-0566.
