Rachel Alice Rue, affectionately known as Rachel to all who knew her, passed away on August 10, 2024, in Ft. Worth, Texas, at the age of 30. Born on July 6, 1994, in Carrollton, Texas, Rachel grew up to be a beacon of kindness and generosity, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with her warm spirit and loving nature.
Rachel's early years were spent in the warm embrace of her family in Carrollton. She was the cherished daughter of Geralyn and Eric Rue and the beloved sister of Ryan Rue. Though she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Alice Campbell, and her paternal grandparents, Orlie and Natalie Rue, Rachel's memory is cherished and kept alive by her loving family. She is survived by her mother, father, brother, her dear rabbit Luna, and her fish Blue, along with her uncles George and Doug Campbell, aunt Jeanne Willems, uncle Mark Rue, aunts Marianne Steinberg, Nancy Coles, and Orlene Collins, as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends.
Rachel's educational journey was marked by her dedication and hard work. She graduated from Creekview High School in 2012, where she was an active member of the Color Guard team. Her love for music and performance was evident as she skillfully played the viola. Rachel's joy for sports was reflected in her participation in soccer, showcasing her team spirit and resilience. Following high school, she earned her Associate's degree at Texas A&M University-Commerce, where her academic excellence earned her a spot on the dean's list.
Rachel was known for her sweet and generous nature, often described as being a bit goofy at times, which only endeared her more to her many friends and colleagues. She will be remembered as a gentle soul who brought laughter and light to everyone around her.
Rachel's love for animals was unmatched. She cared deeply for her pets over the years, which included a hamster, rabbit, fish, duck, hermit crab, and her cats. Her commitment to animal welfare extended beyond her home as she spent many hours volunteering at Operation Kindness, an animal shelter where she provided love and care to animals in need.
Her legacy is one of compassion, both for the people and animals she loved. Her presence will be profoundly missed but her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.
