

Robert was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on May 23, 1935 to his parents, Leroy and Cora Martin. He graduated from Sapulpa High School and attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in Electronics Technology. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, he worked for IBM, Old Dominion University’s Physics Department, Technicon Instruments Company, E.M. Diagnostics Systems Company, and he retired from the University of Texas at Dallas’ Chemistry Department in 1988. During this time, he and wife Christine raised their children together. He was an Eagle Scout in his younger years and became a Boy Scout Master as a way to give back. He loved playing golf. He was a member of Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, TX from 1986 to December 2014 where he played many holes and will be remembered as an avid golfer. Robert was a long time member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Robert passed away on October 16, 2015, surrounded by his family. Robert is survived by his wonderful wife of 56 years, Christine Joseph Martin, of Plano, Texas; Daughter Elizabeth Ann Martin of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Son, Richard Alan Martin, and wife Donna Budny Martin, of Carrollton, Texas; Granddaughter Sabrina Noel Martin and Grandson Casey Joseph Martin, both of Carrollton, Texas. He is also survived by his Sister, Helen Martin Martelle, and husband J.E. (Bud) Martelle, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The Memorial Mass for Robert will be Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1105 W. 15th St. Plano, TX 75075, or the charity of your choice.
