Doris Louise Jones

Doris was born June 5, 1930 in Imogene, Iowa to the late Arthur James and Mary Jane (Logan) Darnold. She grew up in Malvern, Iowa and graduated from Malvern High School.

Doris was blessed to have found love two times in her life. In July of 1949, she was united in marriage to Harold Leonard Shere until the date of his death in 1974; and again in 1976 to Richard “Jack” Jones until the date of his death in 1984.

During her lifetime she worked for Genuine Parts Company in Omaha, Nebraska, until retiring and later moving to Plant City, Florida, where she was a loyal member of Cork Methodist Church. Anyone who knew Doris knew that she was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person and that she loved her family and friends very much.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her son David Wayne Shere; sisters Dollie and Della Darnold and brothers Harold Dean and Arthur James Darnold; three half-sisters and five half-brothers; four stepsisters and three stepbrothers.

Doris is survived by her daughter Vicki and her husband David Schramm of Plant City, Florida; her son Gary Shere and his wife Maryann of Benton, Illinois; grandchildren Michelle and husband Jonathan Hecht, Angel and husband David Raasch, Rachael and husband Michael Shurtz and Elyse Schramm; great grandchildren Abigail Dellapa, Wyatt Hecht, Caleb Hecht, Emilia Raasch and Xander Shurtz; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment will be in the Garden of Time in Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa at a date to be determined.
