Francisco Rovira Guadalupe

Paco fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, padrastro, hermano y amigo devoto, así como un miembro respetado de su comunidad, cuya calidez, humor, sabiduría y bondad tocaron innumerables vidas. Obtuvo su licenciatura en Ingeniería Mecánica en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Mayagüez. Durante su etapa universitaria, participó con orgullo en el programa ROTC y, posteriormente, sirvió brevemente en la División de Artillería de la Guardia Nacional de Puerto Rico. A lo largo de sus años tanto universitarios como profesionales, fue también un orgulloso miembro de la fraternidad Delta Phi Theta, donde forjó amistades para toda la vida y lazos de hermandad.

Fue un masón devoto que sirvió con orgullo como Gran Maestro del Distrito 1 de la Logia Masónica en Puerto Rico entre 1973 y 1974, reflejando así su liderazgo, dedicación y compromiso con sus hermanos fraternales y con la comunidad.

Paco sentía un profundo amor por el mar y la navegación a vela; valoraba especialmente pasar tiempo con su familia, compartir comidas, reír juntos y disfrutar de los momentos sencillos de la vida. También sentía un cariño especial por los animales, particularmente por los gatos, quienes siempre se sentían atraídos por su espíritu bondadoso.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Francisco Rovira Vázquez y Primitiva «Carmen» Guadalupe Hernández, así como su hijastro, José Cotto Fernández.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, María Fernández Morales; sus hermanos, José Rovira, Francisco Rovira Jr. y Norma Rovira; sus hijos Jorge Rovira y su cónyuge Susana Matos, de San Juan, Puerto Rico, junto con su hijo Gabriel; Carmen Rovira, de San Antonio, Texas; Nelly Rovira y su cónyuge Samuel Oquendo, de San Antonio, Texas, junto con sus hijos Anthony y Tatiana; Charlie Rovira, de Isabela, Puerto Rico, junto con su hijo Koi Ryder; y Adelyn Michelle Irlanda y su cónyuge Julio Miguel Irlanda, de Riverview, Florida, junto con sus hijos Piero Miguel e Ia Mercé.

También le sobreviven sus queridos hijastros: Carol Cotto Fernández, de Lakeland, Florida; Keila Rodríguez Fernández, de Lakeland, Florida; y Vanessa Cotto, de Winter Haven, Florida. Además, le sobreviven sus nietos políticos Jonathan Cotto y su esposa Sheraine, de Bridgeport, Connecticut, junto con su hijo Kylo; Joshua Cotto y su esposa Jasmine, de Suffolk, Virginia, junto con sus hijos Tahj Coleman, Mia Coleman, Jade Cotto, Journi Cotto, Jiselle-Rae Cotto y Joshua Cotto Jr.; y Jovanté Antonio Cotto, de Providence, Rhode Island.

Paco será recordado por su presencia serena, su generosidad, su humor, su amor por la familia y la alegría que brindaba a quienes lo rodeaban. Aunque se le extrañará profundamente, su recuerdo y su legado seguirán vivos a través de las muchas vidas que tocó.

Se celebrará una conmemoración de su vida el miércoles 20 de mayo, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m., en el Wells Memorial & Event Center, ubicado en 1903 W Reynolds St, Plant City, FL 33563.

Francisco “Paco” Rovira Guadalupe, originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on May 13, 2026.

Paco was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, stepfather, brother, friend, and respected member of his community whose warmth, humor, wisdom, and kindness touched countless lives. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. During his time at the university, he proudly participated in ROTC and later briefly served in the Puerto Rico National Guard Ordnance Division. Throughout both his college and professional years, he was also a proud member of Delta Phi Theta Fraternity, where he formed lifelong friendships and bonds of brotherhood.

He was a devoted Freemason who proudly served as Grandmaster of Masonic Lodge District 1 in Puerto Rico from 1973 to 1974, reflecting his leadership, dedication, and commitment to his fraternal brothers and community.

Paco had a deep love for the sea and sailing, and he especially cherished spending time with family, sharing meals, laughing together, and enjoying life’s simple moments. He also had a special love for animals, especially cats, who were always drawn to his gentle spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Rovira Vázquez and Primitiva “Carmen” Guadalupe Hernández, as well as his stepson, José Cotto Fernández.

He is survived by his loving wife, María Fernández Morales; his siblings, José Rovira, Francisco Rovira Jr., and Norma Rovira; his children Jorge Rovira and spouse Susana Matos of San Juan, Puerto Rico, along with their son Gabriel; Carmen Rovira of San Antonio, Texas; Nelly Rovira and spouse Samuel Oquendo of San Antonio, Texas, along with their children Anthony and Tatiana; Charlie Rovira of Isabela, Puerto Rico, along with his son Koi Ryder; and Adelyn Michelle Irlanda and spouse Julio Miguel Irlanda of Riverview, Florida, along with their children Piero Miguel and Ia Mercé.

He is also survived by his beloved stepchildren Carol Cotto Fernández of Lakeland, Florida; Keila Rodríguez Fernández of Lakeland, Florida; and Vanessa Cotto of Winter Haven, Florida.

He additionally leaves behind his step-grandchildren Jonathan Cotto and spouse Sheraine of Bridgeport, Connecticut, along with their son Kylo; Joshua Cotto and spouse Jasmine of Suffolk, Virginia, along with their children Tahj Coleman, Mia Coleman, Jade Cotto, Journi Cotto, Jiselle-Rae Cotto, and Joshua Cotto Jr.; and Jovanté Antonio Cotto of Providence, Rhode Island.

Paco will be remembered for his calm presence, generosity, humor, love for family, and the joy he brought to those around him. Though deeply missed, his memory and legacy will continue living through the many lives he touched.

A celebration of life is being held Wednesday, May 20 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Wells Memorial & Event Center, 1903 W Reynolds St, Plant City, FL 33563.
