Born May 31, 1953 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Doc and Opal Halcomb. Marilyn had three siblings: Eugene, Shirley and Judy which provided her with numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A woman of deep faith, Marilyn lived her life in service to others. She was an active member of her church, where she was both loved and admired by her community for her warmth, compassion, and steadfast presence. Each day, Marilyn began with Scripture, faithfully and meticulously journaling her reflections from her daily Bible study—a spiritual discipline she never missed.
Marilyn was the embodiment of generosity and selflessness. Her home was a haven for anyone in need, always open with a warm meal, a listening ear, or a safe place to rest. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her gentle spirit touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charlie, and her cherished sons, Aaron B. Koontz and Damon Koontz as well as countless friends and extended family who will miss her deeply.
Marilyn’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to live on in the many lives she touched. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered prayers, love, and support during this time. Your kindness and compassion have brought great comfort and are a testament to the many lives she touched.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at Bell Shoals Baptist church in Brandon, Florida on Monday August 4th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers we ask that you please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or gift cards / assistance for Charlie as he makes this transition.
