ISOM, Rita T., age 87, of Plant City, Florida passed away on December 15, 2014 at Melech Hospice House. Rita moved to Plant City from Lansdale, Pennsylvania over 60 years ago. She earned a Masters Degree from the University of South Florida and taught at Jackson Elementary, Turkey Creek Elementary, and Plant City High School. She was a principal at Pinecrest Elementary, a reading specialist for Hillsborough County, and retired as an English teacher.
Rita was a devout Catholic and enjoyed art, reading, and music. Her husband of 60 years, Charles Isom, predeceases her, along with sister-in-law, Nan Isom, and granddaughter, Marina Laney. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Isom and Louise (Tom) Waldron; brother Matthew "Bud" (Joan) McKinney; two sisters, Claire Ryan and Florence "Sissy" Pearson; two grandchildren, Cecelia (Bryan) Nichols and Harmony (Kevin) Stewart; and three great grandchildren, Joseph, Kayla, and Charles.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Clement Catholic Church in Plant City, FL on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church. Condolences may be offered at www.wellsmemorial.com.
