Zion was born on June 7, 2000, at the Birth Center of Gainesville in Gainesville, FL in the same bed where his sister, Alexis, was born almost 6 years earlier. He lived in High Springs, Florida for his first 4 years before later moving with the family to Hillsborough County, Tampa Bay area, where he attended school and graduated from Durant High School. Zion was an incredibly creative person. He loved an immensely broad range of music and enjoyed playing guitar and songwriting. Zion also enjoyed drawing, video gaming and skateboarding, the latter of which resulted in some broken bones, but never kept him from continuing to skate. He was a lover of all animals and creatures, making friends of anything from cats and dogs to lizards, stick bugs, and opossums. Zion loved life and being with friends and loved ones. He was a fun-spirited soul who was fearless and wild, yet incredibly sensitive and caring. Zion was every beautiful, gentle part of nature – and every wild, untamed force of it too. He made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed. Zion’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. As Zion prioritized finding laughter and fun in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same - go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. If you feel so moved, reach out and tell us about it - or another joyful time shared with Zion!
Zion is survived by his loving parents, Virginia and Steven Foss, his father, Christopher Eric Knight, and his sister, Alexis Comas. Zion was the cherished grandson of Elaine Secula, John and Barb Ambach, Tamerson and Tom Kervin, and Margaret “Peg” Mitchell. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adored him dearly, Rebecca and Tom Janski, Holley and Jeff Diebold, Kaitlin and Lance Schneider, Stephanie and Rome Abbe, and Evelyn and Donnie Dewey, as well as a host of cousins and additional extended family who shared in his joyful spirit. He was preceded in death by his Papa Frank Secula, Grandpa Edward Foss, and Grandpa Dave Knight
Zion was unapologetically unconventional and carefree and would never have wanted a funeral home service. Instead, a celebration of life will be held at one of his favorite places, Ginnie Springs, located at 7300 NE Ginnie Spgs Rd, High Springs, FL 32643 on October 18, 2025, from 2 to 5 pm. We ask all family and friends that will join us in celebrating Zion to please RSVP via text to 813-363-0710 or email to [email protected]. Please note that there is an entrance fee of $25.00 at the springs. The family does not want this to deter anyone from attending and will gladly pay this fee for those that may need assistance. If this assistance is needed, please inform us when submitting your RSVP.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please consider a donation to Epilepsy Alliance Florida or Epilepsy Foundation in the hope that this condition doesn’t cause loss for another family.
