Born in Montreal, Anna passed away peacefully at the Sunrise Beaconsfield at the age of 93. Daughter of William Davidson and Edith Scott. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Ritchie Johnston; brothers Connal (Adele) and Eric (Audrey) Davidson; and niece, Diane. Anna is survived and missed by her daughter, Nancy Johnston, of Halifax; son, Bob Johnston (Pattie Vorsteher) of Alexandria; grandchildren, Alex (Erin Downie) and Andrea Nuschke, Zak and Eli Johnston. Nephews Eric, Allen, Ken and Donald Davidson also survive Anna.
Anna grew up in Westmount, attending Roslyn School and Westmount High. She worked at Railway and Power. On Aug. 30, 1947, Anna and Ritchie were married at Stanley Presbyterian Church in Westmount. In 1953, they settled in Dorval. Anna was a dedicated member of Dorval Strathmore United Church, active in the UCW group and the Sunday school. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and, for many years, at a group home for young men through the West Island Citizen Advocacy.
Anna always cared for the needs of others. She loved her summers at Lake Massawippi, during childhood and later with her husband, children and extended family. Anna enjoyed curling, baking, and a cup of tea with friends. Since 2013, she appreciated the support of the residents and staff of the Sunrise Beaconsfield.
A memorial will take place at Dorval Strathmore United Church, 310 Brookhaven, Dorval, on Friday Aug. 26, with visitation from 10-11 am, service at 11, with reception to follow. Burial later that day at Rideau Gardens, 4239 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Island Citizen Advocacy or the Dorval Strathmore United Church.
