Audrey McGruther Knowles

Peacefully at Le Vivalis, Pointe Claire, PQ on January 4,2012. Audrey was born in Montreal on February 11, 1923, the eldest daughter of John and Kathleen McGruther. She was a devoted wife of fifty- two years to the late A. Frank Knowles. She is survived by four children; David (Marlene) of Bedford,NS; Brian of Mississauga,ON; Audrey Peppin ( George) of Fredericton,NB and Ross (Barbara) of Sydenham,ON; Seven grandchildren, Ryan, Donna, Carolyn, Michael, Catherine , Lauren and Jayme. Five great- grandchildren, Angus, Henry, Oliver, Cali and Kai and several special nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by her brother, Ross McGruther; sister, Dorothy Besner and grandson, Stephen Peppin.

A long time resident of the West Island and a former member of Summerlea Golf and Country Club , Audrey will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her love of fun and laughter in her life, her keen sense of humour and her kind and thoughtful nature towards her friends and caregivers.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the residents and staff over the last eighteen years at Le Wellesley for their longstanding support and contribution to making mom’s retirement living active and engaging. Also, our thanks to the staff of Le Vivalis for their care over the last few months.

A memorial service will take place on Monday January 9, 2012 at 11am in the chapel of the Collins Clarke funeral home. Reception to follow.
