It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Carolyn White. Carolyn passed away peacefully December 15, 2022 in her 82nd year with her daughter at her side at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. Born in Montréal, Québec to the late George and Jean Thornton. Devoted wife to the late Alan Tony White, cherished and loving Mother to Lianne (Glen) and beloved Nana to Austin. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Janet), niece Amanda and nephew Andy and predeceased by her niece Lyndsay.
A graduate of the Montreal General School of Nursing class of 1962, Carolyn worked at several Montreal hospitals, but it was her night nursing position at Rolls-Royce Canada Ltd that lead to her meeting the love of her life. While nursing may have been her first love, her family became her number one priority. Her desire to help people never waned and she dedicated her free time to organizations like the Friendly Home, helping women and children of conjugal violence as well as The Isaiah 40 Foundation and the West Island Citizens Advocacy to name a few. Her Christian faith was always at the forefront of her life.
In January of 2020, Carolyn was shocked to find out that her cancer had returned after 15 years of remission. She was given months to live at best. However, in her own words; she was “not a quitter” and not even a bout of Covid could extinguish her flame. She fought relentlessly until the very end.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held sometime in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence or to Saint Timothy’s Anglican Bible Church Pointe-Claire in Carolyn’s name would be gratefully appreciated.
