

Les funéraBRIGGS, Edwin Mansfield (Jr.)C.A., F.C.A. August 12, 1926 – November 29, 2015Ed passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, November 29 in his 90th year. He leaves his loving wife, Barbara (Baker), of 64 years, children Gini and Ted (Susan Mathew), and his cherished grandchildren, William, Michael and Graham Jewson; Andrew and Mackenzie Steel; and Tyler Briggs, as well as many nieces and nephews. Growing up in Westmount, Ed was the youngest child of the late Edwin Mansfield Briggs and the late Caroline (Whittall) Briggs. He was predeceased by his siblings Hazel (Birney); Myrtle (Armstrong) Edwinna (Traver), Caroline (Morrison) and Albert (Norma). He was also predeceased by their daughter, Patricia (Richard Jewson) and granddaughter, Alexandra Briggs. He was community minded and shortly after moving to Beaconsfield from Town of Mount Royal, he was elected to the city council in 1956. From 1960 to 1984, he served as mayor. He was active with the Montreal Urban Community (MUC) in the early 70s and 80s. He spent many years on the Lakeshore General Hospital Board of Directors. Ed worked for Dupont, Standard Life and SNC-Lavalin, but when not there he was at his beloved cottage in Ayer's Cliff. He was a great lover of the opera and classical music, especially Mozart.
