passed away February 3, 2017 at Lakeshore
General Hospital. Born in Yorkshire, England
to a large family of 12 children, she served in
the British Forces during WWII where she met
her husband Joseph Smith who predeceased
her. Coming to Canada as a War Bride she
landed in Halifax along with many other
brides at the now famous Pier 10 in Halifax.
Originally settling in Toronto she moved with
her growing family to Beaconsfield where she
became very active in her local church, St.
Edmund of Canterbury. One of her greatest
passions was to sing with the church choir
which at the time was well-respected and
travelled throughout the Montreal Diocese.
Kathleen, also known as Catherine to many of
her friends, was very proud of her family
which included 10 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren
who all called her Nana. She is
survived by her sons Joseph (Carol),
Stephen, James and Gregory (Amanda),
brother Charles her only remaining sibling
and many nieces and nephews in England and
Canada. A Funeral Mass will be said on
Thursday, February 9, 11:00 a.m. at St.
Edmund of Canterbury Church, 105 boul.
Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield, Quebec.
Interment will take place later in the year in
Toronto.
