It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Gilson after a short illness in Acapulco, Mexico on January 20, 2023, doing what he loved most, travelling.
Peter was the son of Oliver and Mary (Keeley) Gilson (both deceased), brother of Thomas (Lucy) and Mary (Arpad) Toth (deceased), loving uncle to Andrew (Vicki) Gilson, Matthew (Marie-Pierre) Gilson, Seann (Melissa) Toth and Diana Toth.
Peter also leaves behind his great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as his Aunt Ada Keeley in the UK, his cousins and their families in England, Ireland and the United States and his many, many friends and his beloved dog, Coco.
Born April 20,1950 in Drogheda, Ireland, Peter came to Canada in 1957 at age 7. Peter was brought up mainly in Park Extension and lived the majority of his adult life in Pointe Claire. He graduated from Concordia University and McGill University in Education and worked as a teacher and consultant for the Lester B. Pearson School Board for the majority of his working career.
Visitation will take place at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home at 222 Autoroute 20, Pointe-Claire, H9S 3Y5, on Friday, February 3, from 6:30PM – 9PM. On Saturday February 4, condolences will be at 12:30PM until 2PM. A celebration of his life will begin at 2PM.
