Charles “Chuck” Prestia, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 30, 2018. He leaves behind his wife Alice, whom he shared 20 exceptional years with. Chuck is survived by his daughter, Angela, and son, Gerard, along with 3 grandchildren; Richard, Chelsea, and Jessica, and 2 great granddaughters; Aria Starr and Lana Grace. Everyone’s favorite “Uncle Charlie,” he loved his nieces and nephews.
Throughout his professional career he was a talented lithographer working in the printing industry. However, his love and passion for over 50 years was officiating basketball, volleyball, football, and baseball. It is in these sports arenas that you could find him, teaching the youth of south Florida the “rules,” of the game.
Growing up in New York City, he fell in love with the movies and the theatre. In later years this influenced his volunteerism, as he worked at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, in the capacity of; program co-director, head usher, and as a volunteer usher. He was the one whistling show tunes! Additionally, Chuck worked as a volunteer greeter at Holy Cross Hospital for the last 5 years.
Chuck will be greatly missed by those who truly benefitted from the light in his heart, the gentleness of his understanding, and the kindness of his soul.
Visitation will be held Wednesday December 5, 2018 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday December 6, 2018 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church at 12:00 noon.
