David was generous man. We didn't call him Uncle Dave, just "Uncle" and he liked it that way. He always did things with us as kids. He took us to see many movies, some of them had just came out in the theater like Earthquake, Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure, just to name a few. One time he took me and Kevin to see the rock opera Tommy. It was all rock music and he didn't understand it, but he was ok about it. Along with the movies, he would almost take us out for pizza or Chinese. His favorite pizza place back then was Mario's Pizza on Oakland and US1 and his Chinese restaurant was Henry's Chinese House across from the Fort Lauderdale airport.
He took us to see half the country. He planed baseball games around these trips and he would take us to some amusement parks. In Ohio, we went to Kings Island, In Atlanta, Six Flags over Georgia, Stone Mountain Park. In Texas, Six Flags over Texas and in St Louis, Six Flags over Mid-America. There were a few others as well. When we were in New York, he took us to Playland, a park that he use to go to with his family growing up. He also took us to Disney World and of course we had a good time.
He surprised me on my 10th birthday, by taking me and Kevin to Pirates World and it's on a movie reel to remember always.
He was a history buff. He could tell you anything about the wars and history in this country. He also loved the "early" country music. He was not crazy about todays country music.
He made alot of memories for us with still pictures and movies. He always made movies at Christmas and other occasions. We have those to enjoy for years to come.
So thanks for all the memories Uncle. We all love you and will miss you always.....
Love,
Your niece, Terri
Memories of my uncle
I remember my uncle as one of the greatest guys alive. He took me on trips, as in baseball stadiums around the major leagues, he took me to Disney World a couple of times.
He taught me how to bowl back in 1974. He bought me a 15 lb ball, shoes and bag. He told me to go against competition. I started to bowl in the junior leagues and in 3 years I went from a 137 to a 165 average. My first year in ABC league I averaged 179. I got up to a 190 average about 7 years ago.
He took me to drive-in movies, amusement parks, etc. I also helped him with league work back while I was bowling in the junior league.
He took me to NY in 1976 at Christmas time. I saw snow for the first time. Went to state tournaments with him.
Thank-You for everything we have shared.
Your nephew, Kevin
You are going to be missed. I will remember the trips you took us on when we were younger. But, my biggest memories will be of you when you moved in with us and I took care of you until God decided to take you home. I feel we became closer during that time and I will always treasure that time.
Love,
Your niece, Patty
I can remember people asking why do you call your Uncle just uncle and not Uncle Dave.... Funny I never thought about it because you were always just Uncle. One of my best memories was you taking all of us to Disney World. It was my first trip away from home and I still remember it today and of course going to Mario's pizza! Thank you for the fun memories.
Love,
Your niece Debbie
