Born in Grand Rapids, MI January 17, 1929, she was a housewife, bank teller, oil painter, bridge player, skier and seamstress, raising two children with her first husband, Art Folkringa. She remarried in 1983 to Stuart Pearson, and moved to Port Washington, WI where she enjoyed Great Lakes fishing with Stuart, Women’s Club, lap swimming with her friends, church, book club and quilting. She cared for Stuart in their home until his death in 2004.
Donna suffered a massive stroke on Thanksgiving Day in 2006, fortunately while her children were visiting. She was ultimately relocated to Pompano Beach, FL to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She lived ten years at Sea View Nursing Home where she was kept happy with smuggled in real coffee, visits to the dog park, Wednesday hamburger night and Saturday pizza and beer night. Donna’s kindness and sharp wit will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Virginia (Broersma), her husbands and twin baby boys, “the Twinsies”, who died shortly after their birth.
She is survived by her son Mark and granddaughter Jessica in Kalamazoo, and her daughter Sue and husband Doug Lugthart in Pompano Beach.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff at Sea View for their care and support, Pastor and Jan Meyle, and life-long friend Norma Semeyn for their letters of support, news, and comfort through the years.
Memorial service plans are pending.
