The world was a better place with JT in it. Miss our fellow HHS classmate.

I just heard about J.T's passing a little over one week ago.  My sister, Angela Guida, who lives in Tucson, located this obituary.  I currently live in Tampa, after having spent over 15 years in New York and New Jersey. We are J.T.'s cousins. We were devastated to hear of his passing but found solace in the fact that he was given a Christian burial.  We are devout Christians. Angela is even an Ordained Priest in the Episcopal Church.  We have many fond memories of spending time with J.T. and Annette.  May you rest in peace, cousin!  Look forward to seeing you again on the otherside.

The last time I saw JT was at our favorite restaurant. He came over to our table, said hello, and after a few pleasantries, left. When we went to pay our bill the waitress said it had already been taken care of. That was JT.  We raised our kids together in LHP and he always had an amazing smile on his face. We lost a good one on earth but Heaven gained a great one!

JT and his family came to Pompano in 1983 . When we all became friends shortly after, little did I know just how good our friendship would become in the years to come. After years of a great friendship and business relationship, our wives got closer. Then we sadly lost Tina. We then became even closer with JT than ever. We had some of the best visits and then we lost him and it broke our hearts. Diana and I miss him so very much. He was a great businessman, friend, and most of all a great family man. His passing left a space here on this earth.

JT,  number 4 and Tom Tompkins, number 15.  High school starters and stars on the basketball team.

JT was a lifelong friend to my husband, Tom and me. Tom and JT played sports together and were starters for their high school basketball team. Together with another HS friend, they were referred to as the Three Musketeers; great looking popular guys. Tom would often have Sunday spaghetti  dinner at JT’s parent’s home. They were groomsmen in one another’s wedding. 
We remained friends even after they moved. We would join them at the Strawberry Festival, visit at one another’s home, be together at class reunions, etc.  Tom died 23 years ago next month and JT was the first phone call I received. He and Tina had me visit soon after Tom’s death. 
 I remained in contact with JT and Tina and attended their daughter’s weddings. 
He was such a loyal friend and all around great guy! He regularly told me that he still missed Tom and loved him. I knew he meant it and what a great comfort to me. 💝 As a close friend to Tom. he kept his  memory alive and I will miss that terribly. 
He has left a void that cannot be filled for all  his family and those who called him a friend. Rest in peace my friend. You are now with your beloved Tina  and Tom. ❤️

I was so shocked and upset to hear that JT had passed away. All of us at Fred's Market will truly miss him! To his children and grandchildren I will pray for you. How blessed you were to have such a great Dad!

Words truly escape me to express properly about this great man I’ve known for 25 years plus and I say great man in the sense of how he treated me fairly and we gained a great understanding of each other and mutual respect . We went beyond being Boss/ Employee ,that was the surface , over the decades a lot of moments shared ..quiet moments ,funny moments ,personal moments, but overall all He would always listen to your side of whatever it may be and make a fair and stern decision .I will miss him greatly God bless his soul

JT was a classmate at Hillsborough High School in Tampa. I have such fond memories of him. Many years later, when our group met for lunch at Fred’s in Plant City, he gifted each of us with a flat of fresh strawberries. That was so him, humble and generous. My sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I’m so sorry for the loss of such a great friend.  JT was always there for me and he’s been a true friend since middle school.

What a sweetheart of a guy.  We go waaaay back as we only lived a few blocks apart.  His familys house backed up to Linda Lowmans house and I was over there a lot.  He was sweet, kind and funny. We had quite a few classes together along with Tommy Tompkins and they were best buds.   Tommy was also my best buddy as our fathers both worked at TECO.
You will be sadly missed JT but you certainly have a beautiful family to be proud of.  But you will be with your beautiful wife, Tina, and watch over your family and friends together.  Love you my life long friend.

I'm totally without words!!Jt was one of the best people I've ever known! He was a friend a great boss and most of all just a stand up guy!!! We will miss you my friend!! I'll see you one day!! And to the family we are so sorry for your loss!! God bless!!!

What a great guy that I had the pleasure to  have as a friend for so many years 
We played baseball at many venues and @ East Shetland Pony League went to the State finals and  @ the HHS  basketball teams, where he was  a starting guard, also to Florida State high school finals, he was a good athlete and teammate
When my family and I moved to Boca Raton we reconnected and he and Tina  were so welcoming to us. When my wife and I went out of town our son who is Joe III, we nicknamed J.T. would stay with the Guida family.- J liked the fact that we nicknamed our son J.T.
He even went to FSU , like J

Dear Family and Friends,

May God be with all of you during this tender time. Your father was the patriarch of the family and a wonderful provider. It’s unmeasurable all the lives that he touched. May his legacy, tenacity and strength be a guiding light that warms your heart like an eternal flame.  Sending my deeepest condolences.

So many memories from Hillsborough High School Class of 64! JT was not only a talented athlete and handsome but one of the sweetest  guys in our class. I always looked forward to seeing he and Tina at our class reunions.  He also gave some of us strawberries from the Plant City market when we had luncheons near there in these past few years.  My prayers are with your family now and for days to follow! Rest in Peace Terrier!

I will miss my good friend at the FSU games. Over the years we coordinated our ticket purchases so our families could be together. Football weekends will not be the same without JT & Tina sitting right behind us. Although I live in North Carolina & JT was in Florida, we made it a point to get together and catch up at every home game. My condolences to JT’s entire family. I’m still in shock and I know you must be as well.

Truly sorry to hear the sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
