Judith Carlson Tierno, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on December 8, 2015 at the age of 68. While her death from breast cancer was unexpected, she died peacefully in her own home and transitioned to heaven being surrounded by the embrace, prayers and songs of her loved ones. Judith “Judy” was born to parents Walter and Phyllis Balan in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1947. She graduated from Xavier College where she was crowned homecoming queen, and earned her Masters degree in speech pathology from Nova Southeastern University after moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1980. She began her career with the school board of Broward County as a speech pathologist, and retired after 35 years of service in her most recent role as ESE Specialist. She was passionate about helping young children overcome the day-to-day struggles associated with autism, Asperger’s syndrome and speech disfluencies. Judy is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Dennis Tierno, and her greatest joys: her granddaughter, Chloe Jaya Carlson, and her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis & Jenette Carlson. Judy loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her whole heart, mind and soul, and will always be remembered for her boundless energy, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit. While we grieve for our loss, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is dancing down the streets of gold in heaven this very moment. For all of our family and friends that love her, we ask that you please leave a comment sharing your favorite memories and thoughts. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Judy’s name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrfcure.org. Arrangements entrusted to Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 200 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, FL 33062, (954)941-4111. KraeerPompanoBeach.net
