*Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, Educator, and Community Leader*
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret “Margie” Rohrbach, who peacefully left us on July 23, 2025. A woman of extraordinary depth and boundless energy, Margie lived a life that touched countless others through her unwavering dedication to family, education, and community service.
As a devoted wife to beloved husband Ted, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, Margie was the heart of our family. Her warmth, wisdom, and endless encouragement shaped us into who we are today. She was deeply involved in her grandchildren’s lives and was ever-present at shows, games, birthdays, and school events, showering them with a love and support that will carry them through the rest of their lives. She had an incredible gift for making everyone feel valued and heard—no matter how busy she was, she dedicated herself to lifting up others.
Professionally, Margie devoted three decades to nurturing young minds as a high school English teacher and librarian in Broward County, earning National Board Certification and becoming a nationally recognized expert in teen library services. She contributed her expertise to the American Library Association and always sought innovative ways to make learning both meaningful and joyful for adolescents. Her classroom was a place where curiosity flourished and every student mattered.
Beyond education, Margie was a fierce activist and tireless advocate for all people. Through her leadership with the League of Women Voters, she championed youth participation in democracy, launching creative initiatives like the “Why Your Vote Counts” video contest. A modern-day suffragist, she participated with the League until her last days of life. As a president of the Coral Springs Quilters and a decades-long active member of the organization, she helped weave together a community dedicated to both artistic expression and charitable service. Whether moderating candidate forums with characteristic fairness or organizing community outreach, she believed deeply in the power of civic engagement.
Margie lived life to the fullest, embracing her passions with infectious enthusiasm. She found joy in running and stayed active throughout her entire life, challenging herself with races and even triathlons. Music filled her soul, books fed her intellect, and the arts enriched her spirit. She was equally at home discussing literature at book club, training for her next race, or enjoying operas and Broadway shows. She passed this love of arts, literature, and outdoor recreation on to her children and grandchildren, who have incorporated these passions to weave their own rich lives.
Above all, Margie embodied the belief that education, civic duty, family love, and community connection were the threads that bind us together. Her legacy of compassion, intellectual curiosity, athletic determination, and unwavering commitment to justice will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her generous spirit.
Margie leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and a community made better by her presence. Margie lived her life driven by the notion that “a small group of thoughtful and committed individuals can change the world.” And this one amazing, joyfully technicolor, fiercely loving woman has forever changed ours.
