Mary Lou married Albert W Yurt, the love of her life, just before Albert was sent overseas during WII. She was a devoted and wonderful wife and mother. Throughout her life she was a devote member of the Catholic Church. After moving to Miami Florida in 1957, Mary Lou and Albert became active members of Holy Family Catholic Church, serving on many committees and organizations. In addition to church activities, Mary Lou also was involved in B.O.L.D., an organization to promote awareness of children with Learning Disabilities, was an art instructor in various school settings, volunteered in church and at Villa Marie Nursing Home, and provided Pet Therapy for ailing seniors.
In 2004 she moved to Port Charlotte, FL ,with Mary Ann, and once again became active in volunteer activities at St. Maximilian Catholic Church, Lexington Manor Assisted Living Facility, and Peace River Hospital.
Family to Mary Lou was the most important thing to her. Spending time with children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren put a smile on her face. She loved “playing school”, “dressing up”, doing arts and crafts and just interacting with everyone. For Mary Lou – there was never a stranger- she loved to talk, exchange information and above all “brag” on her children, their spouses and grandchildren's accomplishments.
She will be missed as a mother, a mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother.
Memorial Mass will be held April 8, 2016, 11:30am at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 1500 S. Andrews Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33069
