A visitation for Olive will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with the Father Lee Davis of Saint Mary Magdalene, officiating. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064.
Olive Mcbean was born in Petersfield, Jamaica to Joel and Mabel McBean on 13th August 1928. She attended Petersfield Primary school then to Burnt Savanna Elementary School where her eldest brother Clement was Headmaster. Thereafter she attended MICO Teachers training College of Kingston, Jamaica. Upon completion she taught at Papine Senior school Kingston, Jamaica.
She furthered her studies at City College of New York where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Teaching.
Olive completed her graduate studies at Columbia University in New York with a Masters Degree in Teaching and Guidance Counselling. She was also a member of the Columbia University Undergraduate Assistant program.
Olive was employed by Nova High School in Davie, FL where she was the favorite Guidance Counselor. Subsequent to her position at Nova, she taught at Flagler Elementary School in Miami, FL until the time of her retirement. Olive was an active member of the MICO Alumni Association Florida and received an award for her dedicated service.
Olive McBean is preceded in death by Clement McBean, Ivan McBean, Edson McBean,
Vincent McBean, and Joel McBean.
Olive McBean is survived by Aston McBean, Weston McBean, Linette Thomas, Millicent Thompson, Carl McBean, and their respective families.
Memorials may be given to Aston Mc Bean, Weston McBean, Linette Thomas, Millicent Thompson, or Carl McBean.
