Very sorry to hear about this. We were part of the 1982 group of expats who moved to Canada. Roger and Elvira were very welcoming to us all, and we became good friends. We lost track of each other over the last 25 years, but I will always remember his warmth and enthusiasm for life.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I still have many fond memories of living with you and Roger in your basement apartment in Almonte 30 years ago. I always enjoyed Roger as we sat and chatted and during the rides into Ottawa every day. Roger will be missed.

Elvira, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It was 15 years ago when you and Roger took me in as an "adopted daughter" in Hong Kong. You opened your home and hearts to me when I was working as an expat but alone with no family. Roger was the father I always wished I had. My time with you in Hong Kong was short but had such an impact on me. I will never forget your kindness. Roger is greatly missed. Elvira, take care at this difficult time.

Judy and I were so saddened to hear about Roger today. We met Roger and Elvira as fellow expats in Hong Kong. We were soon taken in by their warm and welcoming ways and were happy to call them friends. In 2006 we had a great visit to Florida and had the opportunity to spend some time at their home and travelling around. Roger, you will be missed by many that's for sure. Elvira and family our thoughts are with you as you deal with this loss. Take Care of yourselves.

So many happy memories of time spent with Roger 'just down the street'. Elvira - you and Roger were much more than neighbors and friends, providing a second home especially  to Arika. Roger was the goofy surrogate uncle, always ready for silly play or adventure.  Our hearts go out to you and we share your loss.

My wife and I reconnected with Rog and Elvira about 2 years ago, the last time I had seen him until then was when I was knee high to a grasshopper back in Risca South Wales. Having relocated to Central Florida my Mother told me of my relations who lived in Pompanao Beach. A phone call later and both Rog and Elvira and Kat and I suddenly had relatives closer than a thousand miles away!! Subsequently we got together several times over the last 2 years, including an amazing Thanksgiving dinner Rog and Elvira threw for us. Even tho the time catching all those years has been cut short, the time spent with Rog has been very special. He treated us like Welsh Royalty and I love that his accent was as much Cardiff after years on the road as much as it was back in the valleys. I soon found that Rog was a top bloke, and he and Elvira were super hospitable, Rog was kind and I loved to listen to the stories of his their lives on the road, comparing countries we had both visited, and the scrapes he had gotten into. Rog was a true traveller and a fountain of knowledge on most of the Globe. I am sad that my time in his life has been so short, but I am grateful I got to spend quality time with him, and consider it very special. We love and miss you Rog,

Roger has been a part of my life since my childhood, being close friends of my parents and a second parent to my sister and I. His sense of humor and compassion are two of a number of qualities I will dearly miss. Thank you for all of the memories, Roger.

Some of my earliest memories are of the wonderful times spent at The Mount in Risca.  Growing up, you were a very big part of our lives Roger.  From the trips down to The Dell to buy sweets, the holidays in Tenby, the hikes up Twmbarlum Tump, the piggyback rides, walking with Prince, first horse riding lessons, and jazz band competitions, you were always there.  We had so many wonderful and memorable times.  Thank you for helping create such great memories.  We miss you already.

Our initial conversations were back and forth over the canal. It wasn't long after that we started sharing visits and getting to know Roger and Elvira. Bev was convinced that Roger was in the CIA because of all the locations they had lived in. Roger,what a delightful and passionate man who would go out of his way to make you feel comfortable. 
Then one day we started talking politics.... I'm convinced Roger asked the good Lord who's going to win the election as soon as he got to heaven.
Our prayers and condolences go out to you dear Elvira. May memories of the past offer some comfort for the pain of today.

Roger holds a very special place in our hearts. Roger and Elvira have been a part of some of the most important days of my life including my college and optometry school graduations and also my wedding. Growing up in North Carolina, they were at every piano recital, birthday party and soccer game. They were my second parents cheering me on.  We will miss him dearly.

Roger became a very special friend . After having him come on board the Tech. Training team in Raleigh, NC,  he quickly became a very key part of the  group.. He  was extremely committed to serving his customer base but even more import, getting to know and meet the needs of all those he had responsibility for. I still have the British fireman's cap he gave me after he knew I was associated with a volunteer  Fire Dept. in Raleigh. . 
I will miss his laughter and warm smile.

My heart saddens to hear the news.  A couple of decades ago, Roger and his Nortel management team took a professional risk on this then young and mostly green professional. They allowed me to join the team of advanced software trainers.  The experience opened doors and helped me grow in unexpected ways.  During their time in Raleigh, Roger and Elvira were kind, had a great sense of humor, and their home was always open. I will always be grateful for his guidance, his leap of faith and for their friendship. I know he is so very sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Elvira, family and friends.

Roger, will always remember the good times we had when we all lived in Almonte many years ago, especially you and Elvira treating  Erica like your own, she treated your house as a second home, you even looked after our dog a few times even though Elvira was allergic to dogs (that's true friendship). Glad John and I got to visit with you recently. You will be greatly missed by a lot of people. Rest in peace.
