On the morning of September 29, 2016, Sergio passed away at Trust Bridge, Hospice by the sea in Boca Raton, Florida. His death was a result of a fall causing a subdural hematoma. Sergio was 86 years old.
Sergio was born on June 6, 1930 in Yonkers, New York. He was the first of three sons of Yolanda and Biagio Losapio.
Sergio was a hard worker and successful business owner, beginning at the early age of five, he worked on his fathers ice truck. He graduated from Somers trade school, served in the United States Army, a veteran of the Korean war. After the war Sergio started a construction company, Stonywood Construction. He proudly built many homes including his first home in Hartsdale, NY. Taking his fathers advice, Sergio bought many properties on Central avenue in Hartsdale. His first, a lot where he built an office building. Then buying the diner next door, later to be transformed into Sergio’s Restaurant. There with his two brothers, Greg and Bill, they created his legend. From there he started another restaurant with his brothers, Gregory’s in White Plains, and then on to one more with his former wife, Judith, La Petite Affaire, in Briarcliff, NY.
Sergio loved to travel, playing golf, attending the opera, cooking, food and good wines. He especially loved ballroom dancing and all of the wonderful friends that he met through dancing. But, most of all he loved his family. His family was very important to him, making sure every year to hold a family reunion at his home so everyone would be together. Even towards the end of his life when he was frail and very weak, he would not let his health interfere with the reunion. It gave him great pleasure seeing everyone together enjoying themselves, not to mention the great food the family would bring to share.
Sergio was preceded in death by his true soul mate and wife Marie, brother Greg, nephew Tommy, both parents,Yolanda and Biagio, and many of his close friends including his dear friend Sergio Franchi.
Sergio is survived by his two children, his son Greg, his daughter Judy, and her husband Kevin, and their son Patrick, brother Bill, goddaughter Diane, godson Ronnie, and many close cousins and relatives.
