formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away July 26 at age 88. Ted was a prolific fundraiser for local
charitable and educational causes. He chaired, served as President, and volunteered at more than two
dozen charities or schools, including The Salvation Army, The Josephine S. Leiser Foundation, The

Society of Broward, Broward Performing Arts, Kids in Distress, Concert Association of Florida,

After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Ted owned and operated an automotive
metal plating plant in Michigan. He moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1966, where he ran several
businesses, including the Lauderdale Yacht Basin. But his true calling was raising money for worthy
causes. Most frequently, Ted chaired the fundraising committees of the organizations where he
volunteered. He led fundraising efforts for the Salvation Army’s new headquarters, the building of
the Museum of Art, and Pine Crest School, for example.
Besides volunteering, Ted loved boating, traveling and spending time with his family.
