

Vartkes Tokatlian, born on September 6, 1949 in Beirut Lebanon to Khachadour and Vartouhie Tokatlian. As a child he went to Karasoun Manoug in Lebanon and continued his education at Getronagan Partsrakuin Varjaran. He was the older brother to three other siblings, Salpi, Harout Khajag, and Houry. He was involved in the Armenian athletic organization Homenetmen from a very young age, where he played basketball with all his friends. In 1970, he met his wife by ways of family acquaintances. In 1972, he married his wife Azniv Kratlian from Yerevan, Armenia at Sourp Nishan Church in Beirut, Lebanon where they lived for 6 years with their family. In 1973 and 1975 they welcomed their daughter, Lara and son, Ara. By 1978, due to the Lebanese war they moved first to Montreal and then to Florida. He became the proud owner of his own business in 1982, where he and his wife ran International Dry Cleaners for over 30 years. In 1984, they welcomed their daughter, Sose and again in 1986 their son, Sevag. In 1994 his oldest daughter married and gave him the amazing gift of being a grandfather to Tamar Kassarjian, his one and only grandchild. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family. During his years in Florida, he was a very well respected man and an incredibly active member of his community. Vartkes Tokatlian was a dedicated member of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he served on the Board of Directors for many years. He also served Executive positions in the local Armenian Revolutionary Federation and in the local Homenetmen chapter. He will be missed immensely and loved unconditionally for the legacy he left among his family and friends will live on forever.
