He was born in Petersfield, Westmoreland, Jamaica WI on August 12th 1934. He was his parents’ 8th surviving birth.
Weston initially attended Petersfield primary school until he went to Kentucky Primary school where his older Brother Aston was the headmaster. Weston also followed Aston to Bickersteth primary school where Aston later accepted a headmaster’s position. Following his primary school education, Weston attended the Knockalva Polytechnic Vocational Agricultural Training School in Saint James where honed his passion for the soil.
While at knockalva, he participated in sports, particularly in cricket and track and field as an 800 yards contestant.
He was also the leader of the student Christian movement at Knockalva.
Upon his graduation from Knockava, he received employment with the West Indies Sugar Company at Shrewsbury Westmoreland as a sectional Scale and accounting Clerk.
While he lived at the Carawina family home, he became an ardent church goer to the Petersfield Anglican church along with his parents. He was an active choir member and served as its treasurer a position previously held by his late father Joel Tyndal McBean.
Weston grew up on 12 acres of privacy surrounded by sugarcane plantations and an endless variety of livestock to include hogs, goats, chickens, and cows.
Central to all of this, he maintained the improvised cricket field, where local friends would come and play and sometime sponsor a backyard cookout.
Socially, Weston connected with many of his childhood friends and family and became a center of influence for regular gatherings for cards, dominoes, ping pong and dancing.
In August of 1966, Weston elected to further his studies in New York by joining his sister Olive there and his brother Carl who was already attending Howard University in Washington DC.
In New York, Weston received a diploma in accounting and worked in that field at the American Express Corporate headquarters.
One weekend one of Weston’s best friends invited him to a birthday party in the Bronx. That host and celebrant friend turned out to be Hannah Linda Edwards who Weston vigorously pursued until she eventually succumbed to his charm.
They both had the desire to live in Florida and in early 1970’s, an opportunity presented itself at American Express for Weston to relocate to Ft. Lauderdale. Weston and Linda soon joined forces and moved to the sunshine state.
Two years later, they both got married in England where that union was witnessed by most of Linda’s family who lived there.
Bitten by a spirit of enterprise, Weston would leave American Express to team up with Linda to open and operate a nursing home and later a dry-cleaning and laundromat service.
Weston is preceded in death by his wife Hannah Linda and his older siblings Clement, Ivan, Edson, Vincent, Aston, Joel and Olive McBean.
Weston is survived by his sisters Linette Thomas and Millicent Thompson, his youngest brother Carl McBean, his stepson Glenroy Edwards and wife Sharon, grandchildren Krystle Edwards and Patrece Edwards; Great grandchildren include Asante Edwards, Tori Goldsby, Asianae Sands, Demond ”DJ” Williamson, and Giovanni Edwards.
