William Joseph Toolen

William Joseph Toolen passed away July 23, 2016 at age 83. Bill was born November 16, 1932. He is survived by his sons William Joseph Jr. (Megan) and Kevin (Linda) His brother Tom (Lyn) and sister Peggy (Pete). His four grandchildren, Lauren, Emily, Brayden and Thomas.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Joan in 2000 and brother Jack in 1979. Bill is survived by his sister & brother in laws Eleanor Toolen, Cathy and Marty Carey, Jim and Eileen Conroy and Lloyd Maloney and many loving nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York to Honora and William Toolen. He graduated from St. Francis Prep and served four years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then worked for Otis Elevator in New York and later United Technologies in Connecticut where he raised his family. After retirement he lived in Colorado with Kevin & Linda but moved to Florida in 2014 for health reasons. He loved his independent living home and enjoyed going to the casinos and playing cards with his friends there. Guess he loved in order, his family and friends, watching Yankees, Giants and the UConn girls basketball. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on August 26, 2016 at 11am. Bill also loved telling jokes and was often asked to be master of ceremony at retirement dinners even when he didn't know the retiree. They just wanted him to tell jokes and he enjoyed doing that very much. He will be missed.
