Charlotte Barton

Charlotte Neel Barton, age 69, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was a member of Cherry Creek Baptist Church and a graduate of Ecru High School. She was an assistant teacher at North Pontotoc Elementary School and school bus driver. She enjoyed gardening, attending yard sales, riding horses, line dancing and her cats and dogs.

Services will be at 10 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc, with Rev. Kevin Merritt officiating; burial will follow in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband: Alton “Al” Barton; her daughter: Penny Barton; three sons: Scott Barton, Chris Barton and Eric Barton, all of Blue Springs, MS; one brother: Henry E. Neel, Jr. of Jefferson City, TN; and four grandchildren: Aron Barton, Karye Barton, Ethan Earnest and Bradley Barton.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Ellis Neel, Sr. and Ora Bernice McDonald Neel and her father and mother-in-law: Erskine and Gladys Russell Barton.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Barton, Chris Barton, Eric Barton, Aron Barton, Danny Merritt and Chris Baker.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday and from 9 to 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
