Don Linton Browning, age 68, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1949 to Emily Jane Robertson Browning and Lacy W. Browning. He was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church. Don graduated from Ecru High School in 1967 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of MS. He worked at Browning Hardware and then at Hooker Construction for many years. He was a member of the Pontotoc County Historical Society and the Union County Historical Society. He enjoyed hunting, reading, listening to music, playing domino’s, and was a “jack of all trades”. Don was a Civil War enthusiasts and took great pride in “spoiling” his Granddaughter, Autumn Jewel Brents.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Hurricane Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Brock and Rev. Colt Hooker officiating; burial will follow in the Sand Springs Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Freida Graham Browning; a daughter, Caroline Brents (Stephen); one son, Guide Browning, all of Hurricane, MS; two sisters, Robbie Ettehad (Perry) of Atoka, TN and Lisa DeLashmet (Arthur) of Germantown, TN; one brother, Jon Browning (Cheri) of Madison, MS; and one granddaughter, Autumn Jewel Brents.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Mike Foster, Eli DeLashmet, Roger Ettehad, Brian Ettehad, Evan Browning, Al Hollingsworth and Cade Hooker.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at Hurricane Baptist Church.
